LazyFret SmartPath

Play any song without fighting the chords

Add your song's chords. SmartPath finds the easiest shape for each one and the shortest move to the next, then strums it with you at your tempo.

  • Every chord on one wheel: 7ths, sus, dim and slash chords, sharps and flats
  • Shapes that keep your fingers in place, and power chords that slide
  • Tap any chord for other shapes, easiest first

LazyFret Whistle2Riff

Turn the tune in your head into a riff

Whistle it after the count-in. Whistle2Riff hands it back as tab, with its key and where on the neck to play it.

  • Hear it back on guitar, slow it down, loop it
  • Tidied lines the notes up with the key and the beat
  • Fix a note, and keep the riff
Ellis

Ellis: Whistle it the way you hear it. It shows you where it lives on the neck.

LazyFret Daily

Learn music theory without studying it

A chord puzzle, new every day. It runs on music theory, so you pick some up by accident, even if you start with none.

  • Six tries to find one chord
  • The colours tell you what's right, close and off
  • Your streak counts the days you play, win or not
Chase

Chase: Six tries, one chord. The theory sneaks up on you.

Solved: the answer, your stats, your streak.

How it works

  1. Add your song's chords. Tap a letter and pick the chord: every one on that root is on its wheel.
  2. Find your path. SmartPath picks the easiest shapes, and the moves between them.
  3. Play along. Pick a strum and a tempo, and it plays with you.

Built by a 'lazy' guitarist

LazyFret is made by a guitarist who would rather be playing than fighting chord shapes. Every tool here started as something for real practice: find the easy way, then get on with the song.

Questions

Is it free?

Daily and the Tuner are free, here and in the app. SmartPath and Whistle2Riff come with the LazyFret app: 14 days free, then $24.99 USD a year.

When is the app coming?

It's being tested now. Leave your email and we'll tell you when it's ready.

What happens after the free trial?

It renews at $24.99 USD a year unless you cancel in your App Store or Google Play settings, and we'll remind you before the trial ends. If you stop, your saved songs and riffs stay on your device, to open and play.

Do I need an account?

No. The app works with your App Store or Google Play account. Daily and the Tuner need nothing at all.

Where are my songs and riffs kept?

On your device. Never on our servers.

Does Whistle2Riff send my whistling anywhere?

Your recording never leaves your device. The app works out the pitch it hears, and sends only that line to our server, which works out the notes and keeps nothing.

Does it need a connection?

Finding a path and reading a riff do. Playing a saved song doesn't.

I play left-handed.

SmartPath has a lefty view: the shapes as you see them on your own guitar.

Can I play in other tunings?

SmartPath plays in Standard, half a step down, Drop D, Open G, Open D and DADGAD. The Tuner tunes to all of them.
